I have had the same problem with my 500Pro with the pocketwizard card.  Initially it takes a few tries for the PW to pick up the signal and then half way through the shoot the strobe stops firing because the sync is lost.

Doesn't look too good when the client is looking at the monitor seeing black and wondering if you know what you're doing.  Had to switch back to the old Pocketwizard receiver for reliability.  I contacted Bowens USA and they are sending me a new card to plug in the back.  I am hopeful that this will do the trick but I fear that there is a deeper problem than just a faulty card...fingers crossed!
