Question about an older Bowens Monolite
19.06.10 at 19:20:53

I recently aquired a set of 2 Bowens/Bogen Mono-4000 flash units including the power and pc/sync cords. I am using them with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.
I really don't know much about them, wether or not using them on a DSLR will hurt the camera, strength of the lights in watt sec., proper modeling lamps to use. Can these units be used with RF triggers, eg.  PW's?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Frank

First, handle them with care - they are aged and dislike to shoot at high frequency  Smiley
Max. power is 125 Ws. I suppose that your unit has a full-or-1/2 power switch. For model light you may use any household Edison base 150W bulb.
Using radio triggers is certainly doable without doing any harm to the camera (how should they?).

Peter,
Thanks for the reply and info. Yes, it does have the full/1/2 power switch for the flash and a full, 1/2, and off switch for the modeling lamp. I'm currently using a 100Watt lamp, maybe will try the 150w.
Guess I need to purchase some umbrella reflectors now to use in bounce and shoot thru.
