Flash outside
14.05.10 at 12:05:29
Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice, I have a group of 60 kids to take next month and I'm planning to take 2 x Bowens 500w flash heads with 110cm silver umbrellas to use as fill in flash.
My question is how to trigger the flashes, will the IR work outside or do I need to invest in Radio triggers? Are there and leads I can use?
My work so far has been comfortably in my studio where I know whats what!
Any advice most welcome.
Cheers.

IR will do fine, no problems there.
To give peace of mind you can do a test shoot before the actual shoot takes place.
The group will probably be about 6-9 m wide and 3-5m deep
2x 500 Ws with umbrellas is not overdoing it.
I would also take a pair of wide direct reflectors like the BW1885 to
lighten the scene with direct light if the output from umbrella's is too small.
A higher point to shoot can be very useful.
Bring a small ladder for this purpose.
